Lumbosacral plexus lesions: correlation of clinical signs and computed tomography.
Neurological signs and computed tomographic morphology were compared in 60 patients. The primary neurological deficit was most commonly located in the sacral (n = 31) or lumbar plexus (n = 23) and was most commonly caused by a neoplasm (n = 40). In 78% of the patients it correlated with the lesions detected by computed tomography (CT). CT reliably demonstrates extraspinal mass lesions, but only...
متن کاملGraves' ophthalmopathy: II. Correlation of clinical signs with measures derived from computed tomography.
Quantitative clinical and computed tomographic (CT) measures of Graves' ophthalmopathy were obtained in 76 patients. Significant correlation of several CT parameters of the mid-orbital axial CT slice with optic nerve involvement was established. By means of clinical measures, only limitation of ocular motility was found to correlate with the optic neuropathy. The results suggested that there we...
متن کاملCorrelation Between Tissue Densities in Computed Tomography and Three Different Cone-Beam Computed Tomography Units (In Vitro)
Background and Aim: Bone density is of great assistance in the selection of the proper implant site. The present study aimed to assess the correlation between tissue densities in computed tomography (CT) and three different cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) units. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive study, a radiographic phantom consisting of a transparent polymethyl methacrylate (PM...
متن کاملComputed Tomography in the Diagnosis of Lesions in and Around the Saddle Area
Computed tomography is the method of choice for initial evaluation of pa tints with potential suprasellar masses. In our experience during the last 2 years C.T. has proved reliable for detecting or rulling out the presence of a suprasellar mass. It shows the direction and degree of parasellar extension and the presence of any calcific or cystic component of the lesion. When C.T. was negat...
متن کاملAcute cerebral demyelination: clinical and pathological correlation with computed tomography.
A 30-year-old woman died eleven weeks after the onset of an acute illness during which she developed quadriplegia, dysphasia, incontinence, confusion, emotional lability and gaze palsies. The CT scan demonstrated large white matter low attenuation lesions with no mass effect and minimal contrast enhancement. At necropsy the lesions were shown to be those of massive cerebral demyelination.
